"Go West Young Man..."

Situated in a new part of the well known West Coast town of Vredenburg, lies this 550 m2 fully serviced, level plot, on the outskirts of town, close to the sea, waiting for you to build your dream home.

Vredenburg is the transportation and commercial centre of the West Coast area. It is located 12 kilometres inland from the coast at Saldanha Bay on the Cape Columbine Peninsula 138km north of Cape Town.

The town was established in 1875 initially as a Dutch Reformed Church to serve the surrounding communities, as the closest church was in Hopefield.

Vredenburg is surrounded by Fynbos, wheat fields and dairy and sheep farms.
The property is within walking distance from both the secondary and primary schools.

Vredenburg is a bustling business hub on the West Coast, surrounded by coastal towns of St Helena Bay (22 km / 17 min drive), Jacobsbaai (15 km / 12 min drive), Langebaan (32 km / 28 min drive), Paternoster (13 km / 10 min drive) and Saldanha Bay (17 km / 19 min drive) and is a leisurely 147 km or 1,5 hour drive from Cape Town.

The history of Vredenburg (meaning "peace"), stems from the well known 18th Century feud that ensued between two farms (Heuningklip and Witteklip) over a common spring that served as their boundary line.

The spring became known as Twisfontein (fountain of strife), and after legal action was taken, it was renamed Prosesfontein (lawsuit fountain).

Only once the Dutch Reformed Congregation built their first church near the fountain, was the town finally named Vredenburg, bringing the dispute to an end.

Today Vredenburg is a conglomeration of fish factories, local services such as banks, hospitals and shopping malls, and the local tourist attraction - the Fossil Park - which bears witness to intrigues such as giant pigs, short-necked giraffes and a massive bear that has become the park’s mascot. The park lies close to the Langebaanweg Airforce base near Vredenburg-Saldanha. As with most of the coastline along the west coast, May and June of each year bring a tumult of daisies and other wild flowers to the surrounding hills and fields that change colour almost overnight and transform a dry landscape into a phenomenon of colour.
